WHITEWATER PACKRAFTING

Private One-on-One and Small Group Instruction

Introduction to Whitewater for Packrafters

This class is designed for people who are new to packrafting on rivers with swift moving current and whitewater. In this course we cover boat maneuvering, paddle techniques and how to efficiently move your packraft down the rapids. We also cover basic safety and rescue techniques, decision making, as well as an introduction to understanding hydrodynamics, aka how to “read the water.” This class begins in flat moving water and progresses up to class 2 rapids. If you are new to whitewater, we recommend taking a 2-day class to gain a solid foundation of skills.

Intermediate – Advanced Whitewater Packrafting

The upper level classes in our program are geared towards paddlers who are experienced whitewater packrafters and want to take their skills to the next level. We focus on more advanced paddling and rescue techniques, water reading, understanding group dynamics and decision making on longer or more challenging trips. This class is also perfect for adventure racers who want to learn techniques on how to go faster and recover quicker on the river after a mishap. Depending on students skills and experience level, we offer this class in class 2 or class 3 whitewater.
