Teens & Tweens Whitewater Kayaking Clinic II | South Fork American River

Are you a teenager or almost a teenager ready to take your kayaking to the net level? For the on-water instruction, the class is divided into 3 groups – Class 2, Class 2/3 and Class 3 & beyond. In the afternoon, the class reunites for on-land workshops and a potluck dinner. In the morning, pack up camp and hit the water for more instruction!

Class 2 – On the Coloma to Greenwood section (C-G), we’ll focus on catching eddies, making ferries with finesse, the brace, roll and making good decisions on the river. The goal is to make you a self-sufficient paddler ready to explore the river with friends at the same level.

Class 3 - This level group will spend day 1 on the C-G section, making Class 3 moves in Class 2. We'll explore surfing, catching more challenging eddies and the all important - combat roll. Day 2 will be spent on the Class 3 Chili Bar section where you'll put your solid skills to the test.

Class 3 & Beyond - This is for high intermediate to advanced paddlers. We will spend both days on the Chile Bar section, making Class 4 moves in Class 3.

If you are unsure of which clinic you should sign up for, please read through our Paddling Skill Level Self-Assessment.

The cost of the clinic includes instruction both days, camping and all the gear you'll need – kayak, paddle, personal flotation device (PFD), sprayskirt and helmet. This gear will be there ready for you when you check in to this clinic.
